What is Retipping

The retipping process involves removing the existing tip of a dental hand instrument and replacing it with a new one. Prior to inserting the new tip, the handle is carefully inspected by for any cracks, rust, or other damage. If no issues are found, the existing tip is removed and a new one inserted and sealed into the handle. The instrument is then sent to the finishing stage, where final touches are completed as required.

One of the benefits of retipped is the flexibility of changing the type of instrument. For example, if you have a SG13/14 that you do not use, you have the option of retipping it into a SH6/7.

Retipping is not limited to scalers and curettes. We also retip periodontal probe, explorers, as well as endodontic, operative and surgical instruments.
